Soft Washing

What is soft washing?

Soft washing is the method of removing organic growth (algae, bacteria, mould, slime) from external surfaces, using chemical cleaning solutions applied using very low pressure.

The surface to be cleaned is assessed and we mix a custom fungicidal cleaning solution. This is sprayed onto the surface, brushed in and then left for a set period of time. We then rinse the surface clean and apply a post treatment

Types of contamination

Exterior hard surfaces are exposed to the elements and over time they will suffer with contamination. This lowers the life expectancy of the surface and negatively changes the appearance.

Over time your expensive and very beautiful sandstone patio, limestone path has become dark and dirty. Your lovely rendered wall now has horrible streaks running down it. Your white stone wall is now discoloured.

Some of the most common types of contamination that we regularly come across include:

  • green algae
  • moss
  • lichen
  • mildew
  • black fungus

Why choose soft washing?

Some surfaces are not suitable for cleaning with our typical driveway cleaning machines, they may have access issues, be walls or roofs rather than floor surfaces, or perhaps they are constructed from a material that is simply better suited to soft washing.

Soft washing can be cost effective option

Which surfaces can be cleaned?

Nearly every type of external hard surfaces can be soft washed.

  • brick walls
  • natural stone slabs
  • block paving
  • stone walls
  • concrete

Soft washing uses a range of chemicals which provide a deep clean, to remove algae, lichen and general grime. We finish with a fungicidal wash, which helps to protect surfaces for longer.
